Originally released in 1973, ‘Khalik Hena’ by Algerian chanteuse Warda Al-Jazairia gradually became a cult classic, with fans admiring the album’s unique blend of Seventies sounds and traditional Arabic music, bolstered by a full Egyptian orchestra. It’s subsequently been a sampling source for hip-hop artists (among them J Dilla and Jay-Z). Now remastered and reissued by WeWantSounds, complete with liner notes from Mario Choueiry.
